SUPPORTED LIVING

Our supported living services are designed for people with complex mental health needs or a learning disability who want help to live independently in the community.

Choice and Control

We provide tailor-made flexible care and support packages designed around the specific needs of each of the people who use our services.

Transition and Engagement

Much of our experience is in working with people who are moving from residential or hospital settings to independent living for the first time. Our approach is to provide people with the hands-on support they need to become a genuine part of their community. Everyone  that uses our services lives in their own home, and we provide the right services to support them with the minimum of intervention and the maximum level of independence that they feel safe and comfortable with.

We also actively encourage the people who use our supported living services to think about their own skills and strengths and how they could use them to contribute to their local community, allowing them to engage with those around them and develop a greater sense of citizenship.

Accommodation and Support

Our supported living services can be provided in one of two ways:

Housing with support
Here, we provide both accommodation and a package of support services. We offer both single occupancy accommodation, where someone lives in their own home with support - with live-in support if needed. Our supported accommodation aims to offer the right balance between stimulation, relaxation, independence and support, providing people with a suitable mix of day-to-day social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities.

Support only
For people living in social housing or privately rented accommodation. Here, the person using our services has their own tenancy agreement with a third party, but we work closely with their landlord to make them aware of any adaptations that may need to be made to the accommodation. We will also actively them help manage the relationship with the landlord and, if their landlord is a housing association, help them take advantage of any housing support services offered as part of the tenancy.

Meg's journey towards independence

Meg was a 'difficult child'. Rarely getting into trouble at school or at home, but difficult to engage with and easily distracted. "It was like she was in her own little world," says her Mum.

Her lack of engagement continued all through school, which she left without any substantive qualifications. It turned out, that she was also regularly bullied, and both physically and sexually abused by her school mates. She never complained - she thought that was normal.

Referrals

We make sure every referral is thoroughly assessed by our Senior Management team within a week if necessary.
